BScQS (Cum Laude) (Natal), MSc (ConstrMgmt) (H-W.)
Born and schooled in Natal, matriculating in 1970. Undertook undergraduate studies part-time at The University of Natal, Durban, completing a B.Sc. (QS) (cum laude) in 1975. Thereafter engaged in quantity surveying consulting practice until the end of 1979. At the end of 1979, continued to postgraduate studies at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, completing an M.Sc. at the end of 1980. On return to South Africa, took up a lecturing post at the University of the Witwatersrand until 1984, transferring to the University of Natal in that year. Promoted to Senior Lecturer in 1987 but resigned at the end of that year to engage in development work in the private sector, commencing as Project Manager and later, in 1989, becoming Manager of the Informal Settlements Division of the Urban Foundation (Natal). Resigned from the Urban Foundation to return to academia in 1994 when appointed to the post of Professor of Construction Management in that year. During 1998, placed on part-secondment to the new Leadership Centre at the University of Natal, serving as Acting Director during 1999, and subsequently appointed as Director in 2001. Current academic interests include systems thinking, organizational learning and knowledge management, project leadership and learning histories.

KRIBEN PILLAY is an associate professor in the Leadership Centre, University of KwaZulu-Natal, and is a writer as well as a consultant on personal mastery for the workplace. He was previously director of the Masazane Open School in East London (a project of the South African Institute of Race Relations), a lecturer in English at the University of Fort Hare, and senior lecturer in Drama at the University of Durban-Westville. He was a finalist for the Bertrams African Literature Award in 1992, and was nominated for the 1995 CNA Literary Prize for his play Looking for Muruga. He is the editor of Noumenon, a journal that critically investigates issues of transformation. His writings on transformation feature in a number of international publications. An Australian book, Drama for Life: Stories of Adult Learning & Empowerment, features a chapter by him, while his book, Radical Work: exploring transformation in the workplace through The Work of Byron Katie, has been published in both English and German. His children's book on transformation, entitled The Story of the Forgetful Ice Lollies, was a finalist in the 2004 BASA Awards and it was nominated for the 2004 Vivian Wilkes Award. Kriben Pillay's first video, Itala's Transformation, opened the 6th Exploring Consciousness Film Festival in Pietermaritzburg in April 2003 to critical acclaim. At the end of 2005, Kriben was awarded a National Arts Council Grant for Literature, while in 2007 he was awarded a National Arts Council Grant for Theatre. His latest scholarly work is Nondualism and Educational Drama and Theatre: A Perspective for Transformative Training. At the end 2008 he was one of four UKZN academics selected for the prestigious Distinguished Teacher's Award.

(UNISA) PGC Cross-Sector Partnerships) Cambridge After a career in teaching and teacher training Stan was involved in education management before joining the NGO sector first with the Centre for The Advancement of Science and Mathematics education and thereafter as the founding Director of the Institute for partnerships between Education and Business. He joined the Leadership Centre in 2001 as a senior lecturer and focuses on learning, change and identity and ethics, as well as inter-sectoral partnerships and corporate citizenship issues. He maintains a research interest in practitioner research and in partnerships as a field of study as well as a consultancy interest in project and programme evaluation.

Shamim is a graduate of the University of KwaZulu-Natal, and Nyenrode University in the Netherlands. Shamim, a trained and practising engineer, worked in the corporate sector for nearly 14 years, serving in a variety of functional, professional and managerial capacities before joining academia. He is now actively involved in research, programme development, module development, lecturing, facilitation and consulting. He draws on inter-disciplinary research to work with complex real world problems. This is reflected in the areas that he has taught and consulted in. These include international business, globalisation, strategy development, futures thinking, cross cultural management and diversity, complexity theory, systems dynamics and knowledge management. He has studied, lectured and presented papers locally and internationally. He is presently finalising his research proposal towards PhD study in Strategic Management. He has engaged in facilitation in a variety of contexts both for small groups and large groups. Some of these include: strategy, business planning, conflict, union, training, skills development, youth workshops and simulations amongst others. Shamim is a founding member of Equilibria Consulting, and serves as a Director of the Institute for Natural Resources. (HEC & CCIP)

Cecile Gerwel holds a BCom and BCom Hons (Industrial and Organisational Psychology) from Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (former University of Port Elizabeth). She recently completed a MCom (Leadership Studies), by research which focused on the use of simulation as a tool of change management. Her research interests include issues around organisational behaviour, change management, leadership, learning, simulation and gaming, and training and development. She started lecturing at the Leadership Centre in University of KwaZulu-Natal in January 2010.
