General information

A significant part of the Centre's annual programme is concerned with the delivery of high quality customised short courses, some of which can, on election of the participant and assuming satisfaction of University admission criteria, be credit-bearing towards one or more of the degree programmes which are hosted by the Centre.

All course participants are issued with a Certificate of Participation. Candidates seeking accreditation will normally require academic assessment, typically through the engagement in specified readings and completion of coursework. It is not the normal practice of this Centre to require formal written examination, although this is sometimes required.

Some short courses, especially those undertaken for credit, may offer opportunity for/require participants to, reconvene after hours to engage with others and with staff as part of the short course programme.

The Method

Programmes of the Centre are all organised so as to encourage maximum participant interaction. This interactive form of engagement, stimulated by pre-course readings, enables participants to develop collective understandings about the essential elements of the programmes and to debate these under guidance of skilled facilitators.

Programmes provide ample opportunity for real learning to occur through dialogue, hence to recognise that leadership is fundamentally concerned with surfacing of deep beliefs, attitudes and assumptions and how these might come to be changed or influenced.

The purpose of the Centre, in presenting short courses, is also to guide practice, anticipating that the approaches adopted during the programmes will influence the approaches used in organisational settings. To enable the above to occur most effectively, short courses have a minimum need for 10 participants and a maximum of 30.

The Content

All programmes of the Centre are intended to blend leading-edge theory with the realities of practice. Short course offerings have the same objective. Programme content is typically therefore arranged to include dialogue about theory and how it might most beneficially inform practice, given the realities of practice.

Admission Requirements

There are no formal academic admission requirements for short courses, except where credit is being sought, in which case admission requirements of the University at the appropriate level would be required.

Programme Fees

The fees for programmes are dependent on the client's specifications and core University costs.
